A Thriving Community
The Olivine Recreation Reserve
The Olivine Cricket Bash marked the official opening of the anticipated Olivine Recreation Reserve. This amenity features 9 hectares of open green space, including two AFL sized football ovals, cricket nets, netball courts and more.
This active space has become home for local sporting groups including the Donnybrook Dragons, and encourages locals to stay active within the community.
Olivine embraces the established beauty of its natural surrounds, preserving its environment for new generations. Here, you can find calm under the shade of 200-year-old River Red Gums, or stroll through wetlands and along waterways that come alive with the sound of birds in the trees, cicadas singing and young explorers at play
This nature-inspired playground features three giant towers leading to gum nut-shaped climbing pods, connected by mesh tunnels and two mega slides. Enjoy two flying foxes, a toddler area with a sandpit slide, in-ground trampolines, an extensive wooden climbing frame, a charming gum nut cubby, a basketball court, skate/BMX ramps, and a spacious undercover picnic area. It's truly a sight to behold.
Olivine's shared pedestrian and cycle paths will link neighbourhood parks and active spaces to schools and the Town Centre, as well as connecting with the popular Merri Creek trail.
From Cycad Park to Compass Park to conservated areas and wetland, Olivine's green spaces take many forms. Perfect for a quiet moment or fun family play.
Sheltered picnic areas with barbeques and shared dining tables, the pavilions have been designed with alfresco family feasts and neighbourhood get togethers in mind.
